homosassa-fire-claims-lifeCitrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a mobile home located behind Homosassa Frame and Art Gallery at 4:18 am Monday where they found it fully engulfed in flames.

According to the fire report a patrolling deputy found the mobile on fire and called it in. Engine 31 (Homosassa) arrived 4-minutes after dispatch and found a fully involved single wide mobile home behind 4029 S. Suncoast Blvd.  Due to the amount of fire on arrival, crews initiated a defensive attack.

Additional units from the Sugarmill Woods and Rock Crusher stations along with the Crystal River Fire Department arrived on scene to assist with the fire attack and water supply.  Once the fire was under control firefighters acted on information received at the scene that a person may be in the home. The mobile home was searched and a male civilian was indeed found deceased inside the home.

The identity of the person has not been released as of the time of the story.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted and is conducting the investigation into the cause of the fire.
