Murder Suspect Caught in Ocala

Jail-BarsBased on a tip, Citrus County Sheriff’s deputies, along with the Ocala Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended Gregory Scott Holub, 29, of Bradenton, in Ocala.

Holub was found at the Friendship Inn hotel and was arrested without incident.

holubHolub was wanted in connection with the murder of Deseray Lynn Bowles, 24, of Inverness. Bowles was shot and killed in her vehicle shortly before 4:00 AM on Easter morning. Others in the car drove her away from the scene to Sleepy Hollow, a local restaurant, where deputies responded to assist. Bowles was transported to Citrus Memorial Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Holub has been charged with 2nd degree murder and aggravated assault and will make first appearance at the Marion County Jail before being transported to Citrus County. CCSO detectives continue to work every angle of the case. As deputies searched the surrounding scene for articles, a K9 dog tracked to an area in the vicinity where a weapon was discovered. The firearm has been taken into evidence and will be tested to determine if it was used in the homicide.

“Our deputies and detectives worked non-stop to find Gregory Scott Holub,” said Lt. Brad Smith of the major crimes unit. “Thanks to their hard work and dedication, Holub is facing murder charges.”
